French Drain Installation Milton

A French drain is a type of drainage system that is designed to redirect water away from a building’s foundation. It is a trench filled with gravel or rock that contains a perforated pipe. When installed correctly, a French drain can effectively channel water away from a property, preventing water damage and foundation issues.

What Is A French Drain?

A French drain is a trench filled with gravel or rock that contains a perforated pipe. The perforated pipe is designed to allow water to flow through it and into the gravel or rock, which filters out any debris. The water is then redirected away from the building’s foundation through a series of pipes or other drainage systems. French drains can be installed around the perimeter of a building or in areas that are prone to flooding or water damage.

How Does It Work?

A French drain works by redirecting water away from a building’s foundation. When water accumulates around a building’s foundation, it can cause damage over time. A French drain redirects this water away from the foundation, preventing it from accumulating and causing damage.

Advantages

There are several advantages to installing a French drain around your property. First, it can prevent water damage to your property by redirecting water away from your foundation. It can also prevent flooding and water damage in your basement or crawl space. Additionally, a French drain can improve the overall drainage of your property, which can prevent erosion and other issues.

How To Install A French Drain?

Installing a French drain can be a complex process that requires the expertise of a professional contractor. At Pom Waterproofing, we follow a four-step process to ensure that our French drains are installed correctly and effectively.

    Step 1 – Dig A Trench

The first step in installing a French drain is to dig a trench around the perimeter of your property or in the area that requires drainage. The trench should be approximately 12 inches deep and 12 inches wide.

Step 2 – Pour The Gravel

Once the trench has been dug, we pour a layer of gravel or rock into the bottom of the trench. This layer of gravel provides a base for the perforated pipe and allows water to filter through it.

Step 3 – Lay The Pipe

The next step is to lay the perforated pipe into the trench. The pipe should be placed on top of the layer of gravel, with the perforated holes facing downward.

Step 4 – Backfill The Trench

Once the pipe has been installed, we backfill the trench with additional gravel or rock. This layer of gravel helps to filter out debris and allows water to flow freely through the pipe.

    Reviews about us

Quick, professional and at very reasonable cost. No hidden costs. The installation was complicated as the municipal sewage backed up when the pipe was cut, but the team did not complain despite working in harsh conditions.
